Sunday recap.

- Pre-birthday lunch for Mom at a Chinese buffet out in Hayward. It was a Lyons, and still retained the funky-angled ceilings and chandeliers. Surprisingly good, in spite of mussels with cheese.

- Decided that insuring via Allstate required too much hoop-jumping, so bought auto insurance via Progressive online. So, I'm officially entitled and legal to drive my brother's old Civic. This feels momentous, like I'm in a quiet pause. Where should I go?

- Bought 3 pairs of shoes. My feet fall outside the normal range of shoe sizes, so I'm downright euphoric when something cute and buckle-y fit these flippers of mine.

- Listened to Rise Against. This all started because I heard "Swing Life Away" and thought it was pleasant, but didn't realize that they were the same Rise Against who did "Give It All." The slow emo-y song isn't even the last track on the album (where such songs usually live), so narratively, lyrically, and sonically, it doesn't flow with the rest of the album. I'm really baffled at this track choice, but it's something to ponder. Major label pandering? Artistic pacing choice? I need to listen and ponder a bit more.
